Girl Power STEM Camp

Thanks to our TROY Family, we have raised $275!

Support Pike County Students Opportunity to learn about STEM!

Support the College of Arts and Sciences by being a patron of the Chemistry department. Funds to this department help with our mission of growing STEM ecosystems with school children in our area. With your support, you can assist with featured projects such as, the Girl Power STEM camp.

The Girl Power STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Camp is a weeklong program for rising sixth through eighth grade girls. The program’s students are from Pike County and the surrounding areas. The girls participate in STEM-focused experiments, scientific design, and scientific inquiry, engaging with professional STEM women who share their lived experiences in the fields. Participants will visit an industry site and day trip to the McWayne Center in Birmingham, AL. Camp coordinators are requesting donations to create sustainable funding for supplies, transportation, meals, etc., to keep the registration cost affordable for girls who want to attend, regardless of socio-economics.

Projects such as this help the chemistry department to expose area students to a higher-education setting, learn about the STEM field and help the university to connect with community partners. Your support to the college, chemistry department and the STEM camp is greatly appreciated.
